The Moon is also the fastest body in the sky, completing the whole wheel in about twenty-eight days. That speed is why the Moon activation shifts most from person to person even between people born days apart, and why it describes something restless and propulsive rather than something fixed.
On the Personality Side
Your Personality Moon is the drive you know about. It is what you feel compelled toward, the direction you keep taking even when you have not decided to, and the motivation you would give if someone asked why you keep doing the thing you do. Read the gate as the engine behind your conscious life rather than as its destination.
On the Design Side
Your Design Moon is the pull the body follows without consulting you. It shows in what you are drawn to physically and habitually, the kind of activity you drift into when nobody is directing you. Because it is unconscious, other people often see this pull in you more clearly than you do, and it is worth asking them.
Reflected Light
There is a second meaning to the Moon that Human Design keeps alongside the first. The Moon has no light of its own and shines by reflecting the Sun. In a chart the Moon gates describe the parts of your inner nature that come to the surface and are put on display, the version of your depths that other people actually get to see. Where the Sun is your light, the Moon is how that light looks from the outside.
Reading It In Your Chart
Find the Moon glyph on each side and note the gate and line. Then hold it next to the Sun on the same side and ask a simple question: if this gate is the theme, what does that gate say about how I move toward it? A Moon gate in an awareness center drives through knowing; in a motor center it drives through energy; in the Throat it drives through expression. The answer tells you how your life gets its momentum.
