One of the Nine Centres

G Centre

The G-Center, the diamond in the middle of the chart, is the seat of identity, love, and direction. It holds what Human Design calls the Magnetic Monopole, an inner compass that attracts the people, places, and experiences that belong to your life and keeps you moving along your own path.

Defined G-Center

Self

With a defined G-Center, your sense of self is fixed and reliable. You know who you are, and that knowing does not dissolve when the company changes. There is a baseline feeling of being loveable that lets you love others without needing them to complete you or losing yourself in them. You also carry a consistent inner sense of direction: even when you cannot explain where life is taking you, something in you trusts the trajectory. This steadiness makes you a natural reference point. People who feel lost often settle in your presence, and you have a gift for pointing others toward new directions and new possibilities. Your job is simply to keep following your own path and let it unfold.

Not-Self

The distortion for a defined G shows up in two ways. The first is assuming everyone should travel your road. Because your direction feels so self-evident, you can push, steer, or lead people who never asked, and then feel the friction when they resist. Not everyone is built to go where you are going, and you cannot change your own course to suit them either; both sides need freedom. The second is quieter and more costly: bending to other people's expectations of who you should be. When you override your own identity and direction to fit what others want, you cut yourself off from love at the root, and over time that loss can feel like giving up on yourself. Stay true to the compass.

Undefined G Centre

The G Centre is the seat of identity, love, and direction: who you are and where your life is heading. Yours is undefined, holding a gate or two but no complete channel, so you have no fixed sense of self that stays the same in every room. Instead you sample identity and direction from the people and places around you, which makes this a place of great wisdom once you understand it.

Self

An undefined G Centre is built to try on many identities and taste many directions, rather than to lock onto one. This is why place and company matter so much for you: put yourself in the right room, with the right people, and your whole life reorients around what is correct. You do not have to figure out who you are or hunt down love and direction; both are brought to you when you let others open doors and simply notice which one feels right. Your gift is knowing love and direction from the inside because you have sampled so many kinds. People who feel lost find no better guide than you. Let go of needing a fixed self, and you can step into anyone's world and offer clear, loving direction.

Not-Self

The distortion begins when the mind decides it must answer "who am I?" and "where am I going?" on its own. Because you have no fixed identity to point to, that question never resolves, and the searching can turn into a low, nagging sense that something is wrong with you. You may chase titles and letters after your name to prove an identity, or push and initiate toward love and direction over and over, only to meet resistance each time. Filtering every choice through "is this where I will find love?" keeps you fixed on people and places that were never yours. The correction is to stop hunting. Ask, wait to be shown, and let your own authority confirm the right room and the right people rather than forcing a self that will not hold.

Open G-Center

The G-Center holds love, identity, and direction: your sense of who you are and where your life is heading. Yours is completely open, with no gates activated at all, so there is no fixed self and no built-in compass here. Direction and love come to you through the places you are in and the people who bring them, which is a very different way of moving through life.

Self

With an open G-Center, place is everything. When you are in the right room, the right house, the right seat, the right city, the correct people and the correct direction show up almost on their own, and you can feel the difference immediately when a place is wrong. You are not built to hunt for love or purpose. You are built to be brought to them, and people around you naturally become willing allies, full of introductions and suggestions. Let them show you, thank them, and move on without attaching to them. Because you can take on any identity, you understand identity itself, and you can step into someone else's shoes and offer guidance almost nobody else could give. Trust that each next step gets revealed when you are living correctly.

Not-Self

The open G-Center's not-self question is: am I still looking for direction and love. Feeling adrift without a fixed identity, you can hand yourself over to anyone who offers to tell you who you are, from a partner to a boss to an institution, and the moment you do that, your life stops being yours. The mind chases: who am I, where should I go, who will love me, what am I meant to do with my life. It collects titles and roles hoping one of them will finally stick. It initiates over and over, and meets resistance every time. Meanwhile the wrong house, the wrong job, or the wrong relationship quietly drains everything, and you blame yourself instead of the place. You are not lost. You are simply somewhere that is not yours yet.
