Line 1 - Modesty
Exalted: (Sun) An inbuilt sense of where you fit and how to conduct yourself there. Whatever the position, prominent or humble, you find genuine purpose in it and know how to behave no matter the circumstances.
Detriment: (Moon) Sensitivity rubbed raw. Feelings get hurt easily, and what other people expect of your behaviour lands harder than it should, so you end up shaping yourself around their reactions.
Line 2 - The Hermit
Exalted: (Mercury) Sidestepping the demands of how you are meant to behave by simply stepping away. Aloneness suits your mind, and thinking in your own company is where your behaviour becomes genuinely your own.
Detriment: (Mars) The same withdrawal, but with an edge to it. You go into exile to keep your independence safe from being shaped by others, and a quiet anger travels with you.
Line 3 - The Martyr
Exalted: (Earth) Standing by your convictions even when others push back, and letting your example do the talking. Behaviour like this gets challenged in the moment, yet over time it earns lasting respect.
Detriment: (Moon) Chasing the martyr role for its own sake, taking the hit so people notice you took it. Here behaviour becomes a performance designed to attract attention rather than an honest expression of self.
Line 4 - The Opportunist
Exalted: (Uranus) Holding your existing way of behaving steady until the right moment arrives, then shifting to a higher code all at once. You wait for the timing rather than forcing a change before it can properly land.
Detriment: (Mercury) Treating your own behaviour as a game to be played, adjusting it purely to seize whatever advantage is going. The moves are clever, but they become calculation rather than honest self-expression.
Line 5 - The Heretic
Exalted: (Jupiter) Openly challenging the accepted way of doing things, and succeeding at it because you are standing on a genuinely higher principle. Your behaviour makes the case that tradition on its own cannot.
Detriment: (Mars) The same challenge, met with punishment. Behaviour that confronts behaviour head-on provokes the people it threatens, and the stake tends to follow the heresy more often than the applause does.
Line 6 - The Role Model
Exalted: (Pluto) Living your values so consistently that your actions become the lesson. You show others what integrity looks like simply by doing it, refocusing the complacent without needing to preach.
Detriment: (Saturn) The hypocrite's trap: saying all the right things while doing something else. When behaviour lives only in words and never in action, the example collapses and trust goes with it.
