Line 1 - Resistance
Exalted: (Mars) The emotional power to keep going when everything is pushing back. You have the determination to persevere through opposition, and the depth of feeling to carry a crisis rather than be flattened by it.
Detriment: (Jupiter) Resistance run on principle rather than judgment. Refusing to bend where bending was possible, you hold to your usual patterns, invite opposition, and change keeps arriving in the form of crisis.
Line 2 - Support
Exalted: (Neptune) Imagination brought to bear on other people's troubles. In a crisis you can dream up the plan that helps, and your feelings become genuinely useful to those living through the decline.
Detriment: (Moon) Help that is practical, individual, and offered only when there is no way around it. You will step in when you must, but you do not make helping a general rule.
Line 3 - Transition
Exalted: (Pluto) The moment when a decline has spent itself and something new can begin. You have the emotional depth to endure a crisis all the way through and to build a fresh order from the ashes.
Detriment: (Jupiter) Rebuilding while still carrying the old thing with you. You embrace the change, but feelings that will not let go drag the past into the new order, where it can rise again.
Line 4 - Espionage
Exalted: (Pluto) Preparing for decline by knowing what others do not. You gather what is covert and privileged, the things never said out loud, because that is what leaves you ready when the crisis lands.
Detriment: (Moon) Seeing how strong the opposition is and deciding the decline is inevitable, so you offer your services to whoever can guarantee your survival. The double agent, whose knowledge of the crisis is available for a price.
Line 5 - The Underground
Exalted: (Pluto) Survival perfected regardless of conditions. Whatever the crisis, you keep generating and you come out the other side, largely immune to what breaks the people around you.
Detriment: (Mercury) A nervousness that turns on itself. Under pressure the anxiety talks, and in talking it gives you away, so the crisis is met with self-betrayal rather than steadiness.
Line 6 - Justice
Exalted: (Jupiter) You carry a quiet faith that darkness eventually undoes itself, that what is destructive contains the seeds of its own downfall. When a crisis rises from genuine, pure feeling, you trust it as correct and let justice run its course.
Detriment: (Saturn) Even knowing that darkness destroys itself does not lift the heaviness here. A deep sorrow and cynicism settles in from seeing that, however true and correct your feelings are, crisis keeps arriving anyway and the understanding brings little comfort.
