Line 1 - Openness
Exalted: (Mars) Real stamina for taking in a wide spread of input. You can hold a broad range of stimuli without shutting down, and out of that width comes a genuine appetite for forming opinions on many things.
Detriment: (Venus) A narrowing of that openness toward whatever is pleasing. You take in what appeals to your taste, and your opinions end up shaped by what you find attractive rather than by the full field.
Line 2 - Discrimination
Exalted: (Sun) A sure instinct for the company worth keeping. By aligning yourself with people who hold the highest standards, you reach what you set out to reach, and your opinions grow sharper through those relationships.
Detriment: (Moon) Discrimination turned up so high that almost nobody passes the test. Being right about your standards can leave you alone with them, holding strong opinions at the cost of the people who might have refined them.
Line 3 - Understanding
Exalted: (Pluto) Choosing the sound road over the interesting one. It is slower, and it gives you the experience you will need when you reach the difficult end of it. Opinions built this way rest on real detail.
Detriment: (Earth) The pull of the short cut. You arrive sooner, but you arrive without the experience the long way would have given you, and an opinion missing that groundwork carries less weight than it should.
Line 4 - The Personnel Manager
Exalted: (Pluto) A gift for seeing what actually drives people and what they have to offer. You look past the surface of anyone who wants to follow you, and your opinions carry real understanding of the people in front of you.
Detriment: (Jupiter) Too generous a welcome. Saying yes to whoever turns up, without probing what they bring, gathers you a following your opinions attract, and the results of that open door can be costly.
Line 5 - No Human is an Island
Exalted: (Uranus) A creative grasp of how everything connects, from the mundane to the spiritual. You see that no one stands alone, and your opinions make the case for organising ourselves into something larger than any single part.
Detriment: (Mars) The claim that the buck stops with you. Against all the evidence of how connected things really are, this stance refuses to see the value of being organised together, and the arrogance shows in the opinion.
Line 6 - The Bodhisattva
Exalted: (Moon) The great nurturer. Having understood how deeply people depend on one another, you offer opinions that genuinely serve them, and following and leading turn out to be the same act done well.
Detriment: (Jupiter) The path that ends rather than circles back. Once understanding feels complete, an opinion can settle into the belief that there is nothing left to learn, and the learning stops there.
