The Investigator

Line 1 is the Investigator, the foundation of the hexagram. First lines are driven to dig into how things work and to build a secure base of knowledge before they feel safe to act, because the more they know, the less they fear. This is an introspective, self-absorbed process: they need focused study time, and they become authorities by first seeking them out. There is a deep empathy here too, and a chameleon's knack for reading and adapting to a room. Give a first line its foundation and everything becomes possible.
