Detriment: (Venus) A pull to withdraw emotionally once the shock has arrived. The heart pulls back rather than meeting the challenge, and the will goes quiet exactly when it was needed.

Line 2 - Withdrawal

Exalted: (Mars) Recognising how shock actually works, and knowing when stepping back is the only sensible move. When your will is genuinely threatened, the instinct to withdraw fires on time.

Detriment: (Mercury) Being too clever by half, refusing to withdraw in the belief that you can outsmart forces that will not be outsmarted. The ego rejects the retreat and takes the defeat.

Line 3 - Adaptation
