Gate 14

Gate of Power Skills

Gate 14 sits in your Sacral, the body's generative engine, and it is fertile power at its most abundant. This is the gate of resources: energy, money, and the skill to handle both well. When you are doing work you genuinely love, work your gut said yes to, this gate produces real wealth and real staying power, enough to sustain long hours of creative effort. Those resources are not simply yours to spend on yourself. You are here to steward them, to fuel the people, projects and directions worth backing. Throwing money or energy at whatever asks for it is a poor use of the gift. Following your Strategy and Authority is what keeps your fuel aimed at the right places. Used well, what you generate becomes the power that empowers others and moves things in a genuinely new direction.

Line 1 - Money Isn't Everything

Exalted: (Jupiter) Wanting wealth is natural, and here the wanting is held in check by a larger sense of principle. When what you value guides what you gather, the power you build has somewhere worthwhile to go.

Detriment: (Mercury) The belief that a problem will dissolve if you throw enough money at it. Raw resource on its own is never the answer, and spending without direction leaves the real issue exactly where it was.

Line 2 - Management

Exalted: (Jupiter) You grow by handing work to people who are better at it than you are. Knowing when to delegate, and trusting the expertise you bring in, is what lets your resources expand beyond what one pair of hands could manage.

Detriment: (Mars) The conviction that nobody can do it as well as you can. Doing everything yourself feels like control, but it caps what you can build at the size of your own capacity.

Line 3 - Service

Exalted: (Earth) Your talent and your resources put to work for something larger than your own comfort. Giving freely to the wider good is where this power finds its truest use, and it tends to come back to you in kind.

Detriment: (Neptune) Resources gathered and held tightly for yourself alone. The hunger for more starts to wear away your sense of what is right, and the thing you were building quietly hollows out.

Line 4 - Security

Exalted: (Moon) The instinct to build a solid base before you build anything on top of it. Skills developed with care become genuine protection, so that when pressure arrives, the foundation you laid holds.

Detriment: (Mars) Meeting a challenge with more confidence than skill. Backing yourself in a contest you are not equipped for can put the very security you were protecting at risk.

Line 5 - Arrogance

Exalted: (Sun) A natural dignity that carries real authority. You hold power without needing to prove it, and that quiet self-possession is exactly what makes others willing to follow where you put your resources.

Detriment: (Venus) The same high position, now measured against everyone else's. Noticing what others lack turns into a private sense of standing above them, an illusion of superiority that power alone can never justify.

Line 6 - Humility

Exalted: (Sun) Success met with gratitude rather than pride, as if the good fortune had been given rather than seized. That acceptance keeps your power clean and keeps you standing inside the flow of it.

Detriment: (Earth) The same humility reached through a different door: a plain-eyed recognition that things simply turned out this way. The success was always going to happen, and there is nothing in that worth boasting about.
