One Of The Four Types
The Reflector In Human Design
A Reflector is someone with all nine Centres undefined, so nothing in their design is fixed. Reflectors are about 1 percent of people, their aura samples and resists rather than absorbing, and their Strategy is to wait a full lunar cycle before any major decision.

The Definition
What Makes Someone A Reflector
A Reflector is the easiest chart in the system to spot. Every one of the nine Centres is white. There is no definition anywhere, which means there is no fixed way this person operates, in any area of life.
Reflectors are about 1 percent of people, which makes them rare enough that most Reflectors go their whole lives without knowingly meeting another one. They are also the only lunar Type. The other three are solar, meaning their design shines through them consistently. A Reflector's design is lit from outside.
What a Reflector does have is gate activations, individual points scattered around the chart. Those gates form temporary channels when another person's aura, or a transiting planet, supplies the matching half. So a Reflector is briefly defined, in a way that keeps changing, according to who is present and where the sky is.
The Aura
The Sampling & Resistant Aura
The common assumption is that a chart with no definition must be a sponge, wide open and defenceless. The mechanics say the opposite, and this is the single most important correction for any Reflector to hear.
The Reflector aura samples and resists. It tastes what is around it without letting it in deeply, which is what allows a Reflector to read a room, a workplace or a relationship with an accuracy no other Type can match. They are described as the most resilient of the four Types, not the most fragile.
That sampling capacity is the gift. A Reflector can tell you what is actually happening in a group, whether the mood matches the words, and who is being themselves and who is performing. They notice it because their openness magnifies it, not despite that.
The Strategy
Waiting A Full Lunar Cycle
For decisions that matter, a Reflector waits roughly a full lunar cycle, about 28 to 29 days depending on which source you read, before committing. The clock starts when the decision arrives, not before.
The reason is mechanical. Over that cycle the moon moves through all 64 gates, temporarily defining and undefining different parts of the chart as it goes. A Reflector who sits with a decision across the whole cycle gets to feel it from every configuration their design can take. What still looks right at the end of that is genuinely right, rather than right for the person they were on Tuesday.
Talking it through helps, and it is not incidental. Reflectors get their clarity out loud, over time, with a small number of people they trust, hearing what they themselves keep coming back to.
This is slow, and the world does not accommodate it. Learning to say that a decision needs a month, without apologising for it, is most of the practical work of being a Reflector.
Going Well & Off Track
Surprise & Disappointment
Surprise is the Reflector signature, and it means something quite precise. Not shock, and not novelty for its own sake. It is the delight of being shown something true that you could not have predicted, which is what life becomes when a Reflector is in the right place with the right people.
Disappointment is the signal, and it has two usual causes. One is identifying with what you are sampling, mistaking the energy of the room for who you are. The other is being hurried into a commitment before the cycle has run.
There is a third that is worth naming because it hurts the most. Reflectors are prone to putting their faith in another person and being let down by it. The correction is not to trust less. It is to let the cycle, rather than the person, be the thing you rely on.
Environment
Why Place & People Matter More Than Anything Else
For a Reflector, where you are and who you are near is not background, it is the main variable. With nothing fixed inside, the environment supplies the definition, so the same person is measurably different in a different room.
This makes environment the first thing to fix when a Reflector's life is not working. The wrong town, the wrong workplace or the wrong household will not be solved by effort, mindset or discipline, because the problem is not internal.
It cuts the other way too. A Reflector in the right place, among people who are being themselves, is often the healthiest and most perceptive person in the room, and can feel the difference within days.
