Line 1 - Selfishness
Exalted: (Sun) The first law of caring, which is to care for yourself, and it does not have to cost anyone else a thing. Your own well is the one you fill first, and that is what gives you something to pour.
Detriment: (Earth) Self-interest that curdles into envy, wanting what others have rather than tending what is yours. Care turned this way brings its own misfortune, and the caring never quite reaches anyone, including you.
Line 2 - Self-Sufficiency
Exalted: (Moon) The great nourisher, the one everyone comes to. You have the strength to nurture and the power to care because you actually have something to give. To give, you must first have, and you do.
Detriment: (Mars) The child at the centre of it, drawing down other people's resources without replenishing them. Caring that runs on what it takes rather than what it holds ends up sapping the strength of everyone around it.
Line 3 - Greed
Exalted: (Pluto) Hunger that lives in the mind rather than the wallet: a fixation on what is hidden, on knowing the thing nobody has told you. The power here comes from holding more than you need, whatever form that takes.
Detriment: (Mars) The plain, material version: wanting more for its own sake, a craving that hooks you and eventually cripples what it was meant to feed. Wanting far past need turns caring into appetite.
Line 4 - Generosity
Exalted: (Jupiter) Sharing your abundance with real discernment: generous, warm-hearted giving directed at those who will genuinely benefit from it. This kind of quality sharing strengthens you rather than depleting you.
Detriment: (Mars) Giving to everyone indiscriminately, with no filter for who is deserving or ready. Spread that thin, your strength and resources leak away and the caring loses its power.
Line 5 - The Executor
Exalted: (Jupiter) The principled skill to distribute resources well for others, or the good sense to find the right person who can. Real strength and care applied to stewarding what belongs to the whole.
Detriment: (Saturn) A restrictive, closed nature that hampers good distribution and resists asking for help. When you will not seek advice or share the load, caring narrows and the resources you hold start to slip away.
Line 6 - Wariness
Exalted: (Moon) A practical, grounded approach to nurturing, guided by feeling and instinct, that knows exactly how much you can give without harming yourself. It protects your generosity from being taken advantage of.
Detriment: (Pluto) Wariness tipping over into suspicion of everyone. When distrust runs the show, the caring you genuinely have to offer gets held back from people who deserve it.
